Homeschooling Bill Coming to the New Hampshire State House
We have been keeping an eye on this Legislative Service Request (a proposed bill). “LSR 2018-2329 HB. Title: relative to educational evaluation of home schooled children. Sponsors: (Prime) Robert Theberge.” Representative Theberge has still not replied to requests asking about the text of the bill. According to a Sunday, November 4 article in the Union Leader, the bill will require that homeschoolers, once again, send their evaluations in to their participating agencies (school district or private school). We also hear that there may be additional requirements included in the legislation.
If you would like to communicate with the sponsors of this proposed legislation, here is their contact information.
Rep. Robert Theberge, (603)752-5672, robert.theberge@leg.state.nh.us

Twelfth Night in Keene
Project Shakespeare and the Monadnock Waldorf School present William Shakespeare’s comedy Twelfth Night, directed by Deborah Shakespeare Thurber, founder and director of Project Shakespeare. Performances are Friday, November 10 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, November 11 at 2 and 7 p.m. at the Monadnock Waldorf Elementary School in Keene.
One of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies, Twelfth Night is a tale of unrequited love – hilarious and heartbreaking. A ship is wrecked on the rocks of Illyria. Viola is washed ashore but her twin brother is lost. Determined to survive on her own, Viola disguises herself as a boy and steps out to explore a new land. Quickly she falls in love with Orsino, who dotes on Olivia, who falls for Cesario (the disguised Viola) but is idolized by her steward, Malvolio. Where music is the food of love, and nobody is quite what they seem, anything proves possible.
This small ensemble cast includes students from the Monadnock Waldorf High School, Conant High School and the homeschool community.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for students, and are available at the door a half hour prior to curtain. For more information visit projectshakespeare.org or contact Carol Renzelman at the Monadnock Waldorf School at crenzelman@monadnockwaldorfschool.org.

The Portfolio Approach to College Applications
Saturday, November 18, 10:00-11:30 a.m.
Some college-bound students can improve results (and reduce stress) by taking the portfolio approach to college applications, which works well for students interested in engineering, computer science, performing arts, visual arts, creative writing, or other disciplines that produce original work.
Michael Megliola, a Harvard admissions interviewer and alumni admissions representative for twenty-seven years, will explain how the portfolio approach can elevate the dialogue between an applicant and an admissions department. The seminar is open to parents and students; the fee is $50. All proceeds will go to New Hampshire Theatre Project.
