FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) Robotics Team in Concord
High school FIRST robotics team recruiting homeschool students (9th grade through 12th grade) and mentors (any age). Robotics workshop is in Concord, and during competition season, we meet on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. There are many roles involved with our team: game analysis and strategy, robot design, CAD, mechanical design and analysis, game planning and scouting, machining, 3-D printing, CNC fabrication, robot assembly and tuning, robot programming in JAVA, T-shirt design, sponsor banner design, maintenance of team website, photography and video production, business development and fundraising, and pit and workshop safety. All team members also participate in robotics competitions in roles such as robot drivers, human players, drive coach, game scouts, battery management, pit crew, etc. We also do community enrichment activities and robot demonstrations to spread awareness in STEM. We will be starting our summer training in July that will be held Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons. We invite homeschool students who are passionate and dedicated to fill out our application form and set up an interview with the Coach by emailing us at: dreambig@frc.team.
Learn to Skate Program at Salem Ice Center
A six-week session on Tuesdays at 5 p.m., from July 10 until August 14, will include forty minutes of instruction and ten minutes of practice time. The cost of $160 includes skate rentals and Learn To Skate USA membership; bring cash or check (payable to New England Skating Academy) to the first session. Girls Summer Camp in Manchester
Build Me Up camp for girls 9 to 13 years old; $220 per week, 9-4 daily.

NH Audubon Massabesic July – August
Loon Tunes

Note: meet at Claire’s Landing on the East side of Lake Massabesic.
Quietly slip through the pristine waters of Lake Massabesic on a summer evening looking and listening for loons. From the vantage point of a kayak or canoe you will likely see these lovely creatures fairly close and perhaps hear their eerie call. Join two NH Audubon Naturalists and bring your own boat or have us arrange for a rental to be waiting for you at the dock.
Summer Tree and Shrub Identification
July 28 10 am to 11:30 am
Cost: $7M/$10/NM
Can you tell a beech from a birch? An oak from a maple? Explore the summer world of woody plants of the Northeast and become a life-long learner about the trees, shrubs and woody vines around you. Learn basic terminology required for plant identification and use plant keys and field guides on some local native and naturalized species. Get to know which plant parts and family characteristics are helpful when faced with an unknown plant. Suitable for beginners and people with basic botanical knowledge. Bring a hand lens if you have one. There will be an indoor and outdoor component to the program, so come dressed for the weather. Jocelyn Duffy is a MAC naturalist and UNH Coverts volunteer who loves almost any excuse to spend time outside enjoying the natural world.
The Art of Woodburning
August 8, 6:30 pm -8:30 pm
Cost: $25M/$35NM (includes all tools and materials)
Learn basic techniques the art of pyrographics from artist Gail Maas. Gail is a former teacher and long-time artist. Participants will create nature inspired designs and leave with completed wooden spoon and cutting board.
